Reserves of Strength

January 29 - Beautiful Moments

Pale white clouds
lit by a luminescent star
As smooth and soft
as the cheek
of a porcelain doll
I reach out to feel it
beyond the traffic
the power lines
the buildings

Reflection
creates a double sun
A moment of beauty
softly and slowly fading
Its time in existence expiring
just like the fate
of all other beautiful moments...
...a gentle reminder to cherish them deeply

Soul Seed

"When young people are not encouraged and given a chance to awaken to the story seeded in their souls, something greater than careers and potentials becomes wasted. Something golden and noble becomes lost and more people begin to wander in confusion, seeking in the outside world what has been lost within themselves."
~Michael Meade

Breaking Open

“The heart that breaks open can
contain the whole universe.”
― Joanna Macy

...and mine did, on a warm summer day, in an Ecopsychology class with 25 of my fellow Naropa students...in a great room, in a farmhouse between Boulder and Lyons...my life changed that day. Macy's work has had a profound impact on me. That particular day, we sat in a Council of All Beings:

Happiness

"If you want to be sad, no one in the world can make you happy. But if you make up your mind to be happy, no one and nothing on earth can take that happiness from you." ~ Paramahansa Yogananda

Complementary, not mutually exclusive

Science can explain the "how" and "why" to a degree, but only at a microcosmic level and not in regard to the macrocosm...you can only get to a certain point, at which the fundamental answers remain a mystery and illustrate how extraordinary and seemingly divine all existence is.

Small Stone - January 3

Silence of a cold, dark winter night, broken by the sound of crisp autumn leaves, pushed softly by the breeze of the storm in the far distance slowly moving in...

Small Stone - January 1

Cotton clouds
different directions of flow
Dynamic atmosphere
Source of life
Lungs of the Earth
in constant motion
Sometimes at peace
sometimes chaotic destruction
